Jesus Christ is Lord
We worship the triune God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — and confess that salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, who died and rose again.
Who we are
Klivtrn Harvest Presbyterian Church was established in February 1994. From a small gathering of believers in Port Vila, the congregation has grown as a church of the Presbyterian Church of Vanuatu on the island of Efate.
Our congregation
You may see our church listed as Klivtrn Harvest Presbyterian Church or Klivton Harvest Presbyterian Church. Both names refer to the same congregation in Port Vila — a church family of the Presbyterian Church of Vanuatu (PCV).
We belong to the Vila North Session, one of the session networks that connect PCV congregations in and around the capital. Through that relationship we share in the wider life of the church across Vanuatu: prayer, teaching, mission, and care for communities from island to island.
Our calling is simple and costly: to proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord, to nurture believers in the Word, and to serve our neighbours with the love of the Gospel.
Our history
Klivtrn Harvest Presbyterian Church was established in February 1994 with very humble beginnings. What started as a small gathering of believers united by faith and a shared vision has grown into a vibrant Presbyterian congregation serving the community in Port Vila, Vanuatu.
The name Klivtrn carries a special meaning for the church and its members. It represents unity, commonly expressed in Bislama as Yumi Kam Tugeta (We Come Together). The name is an abbreviation formed from the first letters of words from local Vanuatu dialects that express the concept of unity and togetherness. It reflects the church’s commitment to bringing people together in worship, fellowship, service, and Christian love.
Since its founding, Klivtrn Harvest Presbyterian Church has remained dedicated to proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, nurturing spiritual growth, and strengthening families and communities through faith.
You may also see the congregation listed as Klivton Harvest Presbyterian Church. Both names refer to the same church family in Port Vila, part of the Vila North Session of the Presbyterian Church of Vanuatu.
Faith
As a PCV congregation we stand in the Reformed evangelical tradition that has shaped Christian life in Vanuatu since the nineteenth century.
We worship the triune God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — and confess that salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, who died and rose again.
The Bible is our rule of faith and life. With the Presbyterian Church of Vanuatu we affirm the Apostles’ Creed and the Westminster Confession of Faith.
Christ’s church is a community of worship, teaching, sacrament, and mutual care. Elders and members serve together for the building up of the body.
Our place in PCV
The Presbyterian Church of Vanuatu is the largest Christian denomination in the country. It grew from the missionary witness of the nineteenth century and became an autonomous church in 1948, later taking its present name at independence.
PCV congregations are ordered by sessions and presbyteries. Klivtrn Harvest is part of the Vila North Session, which links churches serving the Port Vila area. That connection means we do not walk alone: we share ministry, training, and mission with sister congregations across Efate and the nation.
The national church’s word of witness is taken from Acts 17:28: “For in him we live and move and have our being.” That verse shapes our hope for Port Vila — that every part of life would be lived in Christ.
Life together
Worship on the Lord’s Day is the heart of the congregation. Around it grow ministries for children, young people, women, men, and those called to share the Gospel in the community. Whether you are new to Port Vila or have belonged to PCV all your life, there is a place to pray, learn, and serve.
